Now I Know My ABC's

Another bleached-blonde colleague of mine (not the one in "The Twit" below) told me she knows that she soon will be laid off from work, and asked me for advice on finding another job. I told her, "Well, try advertising on your resume' or online, 'Office Worker Ready To Put Her Extensive Knowledge of Alphabet To Work for You.'" She always welcomes wisdom from the Old Gargoyle.

It's hard for me to see how far you've slipped since you've left us.

[sheds small tear here]

"Another bleached-blonde colleague of mine (not the one in "The Twit" below) told me she knows that she soon will be laid off from work, and asked me for advice on finding another job."

As you might remember before suffering the ravages of retirement-induced grammaritis, you should not put a comma between "work" and "asked." The coordinating conjunction isn't followed by an independent clause.

Is Jonka feeding you healthful foods like kale, broccoli, and bratwurst? If not, get on her about it! We need to keep the olde gargoyle brain sharp!

With love and feigned concern,

Jennifer
