Come Hell or High Water

Speaking of global warming: One of the most-common scenes in cartoons features one or two people shipwrecked on a tiny, one-coconut-tree island. But when the rise in sea level will almost completely engulf the island, how will the cartoonist handle that?

When the shipwrecked pair are busy imagining each other as different kinds of food, one simply pretends the other is a raft, and both will safely float away until the gag runs its course, much like when Tom and Jerry walk on thin air until they look down.
